M/v "Akademik Lazarev" has completed a 3-year program for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia on Ushakovsko-Novozemelskaya area in the Barents and the Kara Seas. Processing of field data was held immediately on board the vessel in order to deliver final report before the New Year. Upon the results of the survey, new data of subsurface geology of huge and so insufficiently explored part of the shelf of the above seas has been acquired. The boundaries of the large tectonic elements and their adjoining were defined as well as some sedimentary sequences and local closures were revealed which may lead to further exploratory works on estimating oil-and-gas horizons.
