Data Interpretation
ENG   RUS

SMNG is a leading geophysical company in Russia engaged in geological and geophysical data interpretation. We provide the petroleum industry with expertise both in domestic and international markets. We have high skills, an experienced staff and comprehensive scope of the services. Technical capabilities of our interpretation service encompass integrated regional studies of the sedimentary basins, identify and proposing of prospects for exploration drilling with the giving of the recommendations on the optimum well location, petrophysical analysis, reservoir study and geological modeling.

Interpretation department exists in the company since its founding. Geophysicists-interpreters and geologists have performed a comprehensive interpretation of the seismic, gravity, electrometry and geochemistry data acquired on the Arctic Shelf of the Barents, Pechora, Kara Seas and the Laptev Sea.

Geophysical explorations carried out by SMNG staff and, in particular, geophysicists and geologists of interpretation department have played significant role in estimation of the hydrocarbon potential of the Russian Arctic Offshore.

For processing and interpretation of seismic data SMNG has a common processing and interpretation network that provides a fast export of processing results on the interpretation of the information space.

Interpretation of seismic data department has an extensive network of workstations with includes Sun Ultra, Sun Blade 1000, Sun Blade 1500, Sun Blade 2500 and HP xw6600.

Interpretation is performed by using a petroleum industry Landmark software version 2003.12 based on Solaris operating system. The software package includes the following key programs:

In addition to the Landmark basic package SMNG successfully applied Jason Geoscience Workbench software (Fugro Geoscience GmbH) for seismic modeling and 2D/3D seismic inversion (Eplus, EarthModel, Wavelets, InverTracePlus, FunctionMod, RockTrace, Largo).

Since 2009 2D/3D seismic data visualization and mapping are performed by using Petrosys software (Petrosys Base Mapping Application Suite, 3D Viewer, Gridding & Contouring, Volumetrics).

SDI Montage, SDI JetServ and SDI VersaServ tools are used for the preparation drawings and figures (images or graphics) of the reports.

SMNG interpretation department has PC desktops for office work, performing of reports and documents. We use modern output devices: HP5500b and HP5500 color plotters, as well as HP and Seiko high-speed color printers.

In addition to the Russian Arctic Offshore, SMNG experience extends to the Caspian, Azov and Black Seas. Also SMNG specialists successfully performed 3D seismic data interpretation on the shelf of Vietnam, India and Venezuela. Based on the results of the seismic data interpretation carried out by SMNG, in August 2007 Vietgazprom has drilled the first exploratory well in Block 112, located offshore Vietnam in the Bac Bo Bay. Well testing over Bao Wang area has yielded a commercial gas inflow.
